Oh did we have fun! Nope, no crackerjacks but we sure had fun fun fun!
Other than the Pawtucket Red Sox we had never been to a minor league game. The Sioux Falls Canaries are an independent minor league team. This club is so family oriented - from the price of admission ($6.00 general admission - come on you can't bet that) to the varied entertainment (in addition to the game). There is a playground area for kids, a "family berm area", two mascots (one who takes the kids out on the field between innings and leads them in the "YMCA" song - just so much fun. I don't understand why the stadium wasn't packed!
This guy greeted us as we entered the stadium - I don't know what he is, surely not a canary, but he was fun!
Look at the sky, wasn't it just a perfect ball game day ~ it sure was .. gorgeous weather, fun entertainment and of course we met more nice people. What is up with all these pleasant, smiling people in Sioux Falls?
See there IS a canary mascot! And he makes people smile for sure.
As I create this post there is a benefit concern in about its 4th hour here at the Fairgrounds. I am not clear who the benefit is for but we have enjoyed the music tremendously (except it is, of course, scaring Sir Arlo!) WE don't seem to be able to find an accurate listing of events here tho - there was some car event here also today but we couldn't find any indication on any sign or web site what it was. And we saw no notice of this benefit anywhere either - go figure! There just seems to be something going on here all the time, but it has not felt crowded or loud or annoying at all since we've been here. I guess that is another reason I am so looking forward to being here for another month or so. We just keep loving our new "hometown".
